Strathmore University is a privately owned educational institution located in Nairobi, Kenya. The school was founded in the year 2002 by a group of people with the aid of trust. Now unlike most educational institutions that gain profit off their wards, Strathmore University is a non-profit institution. This means that students/wards of this institution only get to pay as much as necessary to run the educational system or, in most cases, nothing; now, let’s say, a scholarship.
Strathmore University offers a range of courses for their 5000 students who wish to study in various fields of education. They offer courses in fields such as business management, engineering sciences, physical sciences, etc. They can award their students degrees ranging from certificates, diploma, to their bachelor’s, to their Masters and even their doctorate in their field of study

Every Applicant is expected to sit for the graduate examination program before being considered eligible for admission into the system.
After admission has been given, it is important to know that tuition fee payment is mandatory. The school fee structure can show the various allocated amount of money paid by each student in their various course of study.
The Strathmore University fee structure shows the following:
The Strathmore undergraduate fee structure
This is the amount of tuition required from undergraduate students studying to get their bachelor’s degree. Strathmore University charges them a tuition fee of Ksh 105,000. Students are allowed to pay this tuition fee in installments – two installments. You need to pay a deposit of Ksh 80,000 in the first installment, and then you are allowed to pay the other part (Ksh 25,000) afterward.
The Strathmore postgraduate fee structure
All Postgraduate students who aim to get their Masters, doctorate, etc., are also expected to pay their tuition in the same manner as the undergraduate students. They also pay two installments: the first Ksh 80,000 and the second Ksh 25,000.
The Strathmore international student fee structure
Strathmore University is a no-profit University. Students pay as much as is needed from them; citizens. From study charts made over the years, it is visible that Strathmore University subsidizes the tuition fee of their citizens (Kenyans) while that of international students is left at the normal rate although it is cheap. Now let’s compare; an international student in Strathmore University pays as much as $5,000 per year for their bachelor’s and master’s program. In comparison, an indigenous student would pay a tuition fee of as low as $46 per year for the same master’s and bachelor’s programs.
The Strathmore Government-sponsored student fee structure
Although Strathmore University is a private University, the government still plays an important role in its operations. The government runs so many scholarship programs for students in this school. It would not be out of place when I say that the Kenyan government sponsors 45% of the students in the school.
The government does not pay the tuition fees in cash for these students; they always pay into the chartered bank of the school’s choice. The government also ensures that donations are made regularly to the school’s trust fund.
The Strathmore self-sponsored fee structure
Students who are to provide for themselves their tuition money have to pay to a bank account acknowledged by the school, I.e., 1) standard chartered bank
2) Stanbic bank, Chiromo branch
3) Cooperative Bank of Kenya
The Strathmore accommodation fee structure
It should be noted that Strathmore University does not provide accommodation or housing for their students as the school does not have facilities of such. Buh there a list of hostel accommodations close to and around the school campus environment.
Students of the Strathmore University get to study in their chosen field because of the numerous educational privileges offered by the institution.
Strathmore University provides an enabling environment for students who are not financially capable of studying and still get the same degree for far more money.
Its subsidized tuition fee payment has also, in the long run, helped the educational sector of the Kenyan economy.
