Apple, makers of the best-selling smartphones on earth, the iPhone, have started production on 6G network connectivity for users.
The project is still in its most preliminary stage, but Apple have taken progressive initiatives by hiring wireless system research engineers.

“You will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to craft next generation wireless technology that will have deep impact on future Apple products.” the ads read
“In this role you will be at the center of a cutting-edge research group responsible for creating next generation disruptive radio access technologies over the next decade.”
The job openings are available for positions at Apple’s offices in Silicon Valley and San Diego, the headquarters of every product design and development.
Any employed personnel will be involved in Anna ambitious project to “research and design next generation (6G) wireless communication systems for radio access networks” and “participate in industry/academic forums passionate about 6G technology.”
The network, however, might not be up and running until 2030, according to industry experts, as 5G itself is still in its early teething stage.
The motivating factor behind this push is for Apple to produce an independent modem, as their current 5G modems were designed by Qualcomm Inc. To acquire the services of the San Diego-based chipmaker, Apple had to negotiate an exorbitant lawsuit settlement.
Apple are usually left behind in communication standard advancement as they wait for new technologies to first go mainstream before hopping on.
This was the case in their adoption of 3G in June 2008, a full year later than the launch of the their smartphone in 2007. With 4G, they waited a full 6 months into October 2010, before adopting the technology on any of their devices. While 5G was just launched in October 2020, two months after ZTE had taken the lead.
5G is already 100 times faster than its predecessor but Apple plan on going more supersonic to speeds of 20 gigabytes per second, a staggering 200 times faster than 4G.
Apple had also recently shared exclusive security details on how various security systems on computer communicate with smartphones, a rare revelation from the software giants.
They are also close to completing the production of magnetic battery packs to be attached to the newest iPhone, for seamless wireless charging.
The accessory has been under production for over a year and might be another of the company’s hi-tech add-on to be purchased separately as seen in the iPhone 12 EarPod.
