His father was Mohammed Dangote while his mother was Mariya Sanusi Dantata. His grandfather, Alhaji Alhassan Dantata was known to be the richest man in West Africa at the time of his death in 1955.

Aliko Dangote obtained a Bachelors’s degree in Business Administration from Al-Azhar University, Cairo Egypt after he graduated from Capital High school, Kano.
